We make plant based, organic, fair-trade, natural products using all natural ingredients. Our product recipes are originally developed with Moroccan tradition and skin nutrition as the primary goals. We make all recipes from scratch and do not use use sulphates, parabens, polysorbates, fragrances, perfumes, dyes or harsh preservatives. Our products are known to nourish the skin and soothe many dry skin irritations aggravated by acne, eczema, psoriasis. At Zakia's Morocco we want our friends, readers and customers to be well informed as it pertains to our ingredients.  We strive to provide as much information as we can find.  Below you will find a list of all the ingredients used by Zakia's Morocco as well as the known and reputed benefits for each. Indeed, if we learn of adverse news regading an ingredient we will notify immediately on our website and look to find replacement products. 
Our products are natural and largely whenever possible organic.  We hope you find this section both informative and interesting.

Argan Oil (Argania Spinosa)
Argan Oil has almost twice as much vitamin E as olive oil and is rich in anti-oxidants. It is 80% unsaturated, containing eight essential fatty acids. Argan oil also contains rare plant sterols not found in other oils, which have anti-inflammatory properties, beneficial for arthritic or rheumatic conditions. It helps to prevent loss of moisture from the skin. It reduces pain and swelling


Nutmeg (Myristica Powder)
Nutmeg oil has a warm, spicy, sharp aroma; it has a number of properties including being analgesic, anti-septic, digestive, an aphrodisiac, stimulant, tonic and anti-oxidant. In aromatherapy, Nutmeg is used in the treatment of a number of conditions; it is used to treat arthritis, gout, rheumatism, poor circulation, indigestion, constipation, flatulence, nausea, nervous fatigue and anxiety.

Apricot Oil (prunus armeniaca)
Apricot Oil is rich in the essential oleic and linolenic fatty acids and is known for its ability to penetrate the skin without leaving an oily feel. It moisturizes and revitalizes dry or aged skin.

Oats (Avena sativa)
Used in our Cereals Gommage, Oat straw and the grain are considered to be a mild antidepressant, gently raising energy levels and supporting an over-stressed nervous systems. Oats are thought to stimulate sufficient nervous energy to help relieve insomnia.


Avocado Oil(persea gratissima)
Avocado Oilcontains vitamins A, B, and D and is rich in lecithin. It penetrates the upper layers of the skin and has beneficial effect on dry skin.

Olive Oil Paste (Potassium Olivate)Olive Oil paste is 100% vegetable base and an exceptional emollient as well as offering exfoliant and moisturizing properties. It removes the dead skin cells and helps purify the skin by removing excess toxins. The principal ingredient in our Savon Noir or Black Soap.

Barbary Fig (Opuntia Ficus-Indica)
Extremely rare and precious oil that is very high in vitamin E.  It is an extraordinary oil that has high anti-inflammatory, anti-oxident and anti-aging properties.  It has been used for medicinal purposes north Africa for centuries.

Orange flower (citrus aurantium amara)Orange flower water(citrus aurantium amara) is used for dry skin, broken capillaries and to stimulate new cell growth. It is an antiseptic, tones the skin, impedes redness, soothes and cools.

Barley  (Hordeum)
Used in our Cereals Gommage, Barley is a rich source of polyunsaturated fatty acids, tocopherols & tocotrienols

Oregano (Origanum vulgare)
Apart from being a great Pizza topping, oregano is one of the best dermatolical antiseptics because of its high thymol content.

Coconut Oil(Cocos Mucifera)
Coconut Oilmoisturizes, conditions and protects the skin. Coconut Oil has a light viscosity; it is a natural emollient, penetrates the skin easily with no oily after-feel and could be applied with ease to benefit from its natural moisturizing, anti-aging, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Poppy Seed (Papaver)
Poppy Seed oil is very high (70%) in linoleic acid. Linoleic acid has become increasingly popular in the beauty products industry because of its beneficial properties on the skin. Research points to linoleic acid's affective properties when applied topically on the skin, ie. anti-inflammatory, acne reduction, moisture retention properties.

Corn (Zea mays)
Used in our Cereals Gommage, it is a good emollient poultice for ulcers, swellings and rheumatic pains. It contains the cell-proliferant and wound-healing substance allantoin, which is widely used in herbal medicine to speed the healing process.The plant is said to have anticancer properties and is experimentally hypoglycaemic and hypotensive.

Potassium alumPotassium alum is an astringent/styptic and antiseptic. For this reason, it can be used as a natural deodorant by inhibiting the growth of the bacteria responsible for body odor. Use of mineral salts in such a fashion does not prevent perspiration. Its astringent/styptic properties are often employed after shaving and to reduce bleeding in minor cuts and abrasions, nosebleeds, and hemorrhoids. It is frequently used topically and internally in traditional systems of medicine including Ayurveda.

Ginger root (Zingiber officinale)
It is highly beneficial in combating depression. It has also proved its effectiveness in relieving pain. Ginger essential oil is sought after due to its aphrodisiac and stimulant properties. Ginger herb is extensively brought to use for its moisture retention characteristics. It helps a great deal in toning the body.

Rosemary (Rosminarus officinalis)
The oil extracted from rosemary is a popular choice for massage, which can be attributed to its sweetness and freshness. Rosemary is a great antidepressant, antiseptic, stimulant and a wonderful pain killer. Rosemary is a wonderful skin cleanser. For sore and aching muscles, rosemary essential oil application serves as the best remedy.

Grapeseed Oil (Vitis Vinifera)
Grapeseed Oils pressed from specific grape varieties including chardonnay and riesling grapes.  It has mildly astringent qualities which help to tighten and tone the skin, which makes it useful for acne and other skin complaints.It is rich in linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid quite important for the skin and the cell membranes.Grape seed oil has regenerative and restructuring virtues and has great skin moisturizing properties.

Spearmint (mentha spicata)
Spearmint is good for the skin, has antiseptic properties and a tingling, cooling feeling when applied to the skin.

Jojoba oil (simmondsia chinensis)
Excellent moisturizing and emulsifying properties. Jojoba is rich in Vitamin E, contains proteins and minerals, as well as myristic acid, which is an anti-inflammatory agent. Helps eczema, psoriasis and inflamed skin. Excellent for inflamed or irritated conditions, a mild sunscreen.

Sesame Seed Oil (Sésamum Indicum)

Sesame Seed Oil contains approximately 16% saturated fat, 40% oleic acid (an omega-9 fatty acid), 44% linoleic acid (an omega-6 essential fatty acid), and less than 1% alpha linolenic acid (an omega-3 essential fatty acid).

Lavender (lavendula augustofolia) 
This essential oil has a sweet, crisp scent. A powerful, yet mild antiseptic, it can be used directly on the skin for urgent needs such as bee stings, minor cuts and burns. It tones, hydrates and freshens skin after cleansing, shaving or anytime. Lavender is beneficial for all skin types, particularly oily and/or blemished, sensitive skin.

Sweet Almond(PrunusAmygdalus Dulcis)
The oil is easily absorbable and serves as a great emollient, by lending a soft glowing beautiful touch to the skin. It balances the moisture in the body. In case of loss of moisture, it helps to restore it. It makes a great lubricant, thus aids in combating itching and inflammation. It is an excellent natural moisturizer that is suitable for all skin types.

Lime Oil (Citrus Aurantifolia)
Lime oil has antiviral and anti-bacterial properties and is considered beneficial to the immune system, easing infection in the respiratory tract and relieving pain in muscles and joints, while revitalizing a tired mind and banishing the feeling of apathy, anxiety and depression.

Sweet Orange (Citrus Sinensis)  
An essential oil has strong antibacterial properties. The acid content in the sweet orange essential oil gently dissolves grease and dirt buildup. It is beneficial and soothing to dry irritated skin. Regenerative properties make it good for aging or rough skin.

Morrocan Lava Clay
Is a naturally occurring clay which may be combined with water or moisturizing oils to make a facial or body mask. It is known for its absorbing properties. It is excellent for all skin types: it can be used to balance combination skin, normalize oily skin, and revitalize dry skin. Moroccan Lava Clay is rich in vitamins and minerals, and has antiseptic healing properties that help alleviate skin problems and relieve pain. It leaves the skin feeling silky smooth.

Thyme (Thymus vulgaris)
Thyme oil is strongly antibacterial and antifungal.


Nigella Sativa Oil
Herb of the Mediterranean region having pungent seeds used like those of caraway.  It has been used for centuries as a theraputic remedy from everything from hair loss to low sperm count!
Water (Aqua)
Distilled water has virtually all of its impurities removed through distillation. Distillation involves boiling the water and then condensing the steam into a clean container, leaving nearly all of the solid contaminants behind. Distillation produces very pure water.



Winter savory (Satureja montana)
The essential oil forms an ingredient in lotions for the scalp in cases of incipient baldness. An ointment made from the plant is used externally to relieve arthritic joints.  Used for hundreds of years it reputed to be a known aphrodisiac
